His main research interests lie in the application of advanced structural materials, with emphasis in the field of strengthening/seismic retrofitting of concrete. He is the author of 5 books and 110 papers, with 20,126 citations. He also serves as an Associate Editor for two journals: the ASCE Journal of Composites for Construction and the Journal of Composites Science. He has received numerous honors, including the fib Fellow 2023 Award, the Flanders Research Foundation Medal, and the IIFC Medal of Outstanding Research Impact. According to the Stanford global database, he ranks 21st among 57,831 civil engineering authors worldwide (top 0.04%).

报告摘要

The presentation will cover the application of a relatively new class of advanced materials, namely textile-reinforced mortars (TRM), as strengthening and seismic retrofitting materials of existing reinforced concrete (RC) and masonry structures. Topics will include the use of TRM as a means of enhancing: (a) the capacity of RC members (in some cases also infill walls) in flexure, shear, and through confinement; (b) the capacity of unreinforced masonry walls subjected to in-plane or out-of-plane loading. Finally, a novel concept will be presented for the integrated seismic and energy upgrading of structures using TRM in combination with thermal insulation plates. 

本次报告聚焦织物网增强水泥砂浆(TRM)在钢筋混凝土和砌体结构抗震加固中的应用。将重点介绍采用TRM提升结构性能的机理与方法,包括:(1)提高RC构件在受弯、受剪及约束下的承载能力;(2)提高砌体墙在平面内和平面外荷载下的承载能力。最后,将介绍TRM与保温板结合的理念,以实现结构抗震性能提升与节能改造一体化。
