Dr Ong Ghim Ping Raymond is Dean’s Chair Associate Professor and Deputy Head (Research and Enterprise) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Director (Operations) of the Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience Institute Singapore. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from NUS and is internationally recognised for his research in sustainable pavement materials, pavement engineering, intelligent transport infrastructure, and multimodal transportation systems. His research spans circular economy applications in pavements, airport pavement engineering, infrastructure resilience, infrastructure sensing, and AI-enabled transport infrastructure management, with more than 125 journal publications to his name. He currently serves as Executive Vice President of the International Society for Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Transport Infrastructures (iSMARTi) and Chair of the Economics and Finance Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In Singapore, he is Vice Chairman of the Singapore Road Safety Council, Vice President of the Pavement Engineering Society (Singapore), a member of the Land Transport Authority’s Panel of Expert Advisors, and serves on several national committees related to transportation and infrastructure. His contributions have been recognised through numerous awards, including the ASCE Alfred Noble Prize, the IAME Hanjin Prize, the iSMARTi Achievement Award, and the NUS College of Design and Engineering Researcher Award. He is also a Chartered Engineer in Railway and Transportation, as well as in Road Traffic Design.
